Business Development Account Director

We’re looking for a Business Development Account Director to join the Conran Design Group team – to develop and manage our approach to growth across both organic growth and new client development.

We are seeking someone with strong branding agency experience in account management and/or business development who is eager to shape our approach to growth and take on this newly-created role.

This role will focus on owning our response to prospective, inbound and organic growth opportunities and will have a focus on hands-on management of the full pitch process, from qualification, presentation preperation through to final negotiation and feedback.

We have a dedicated lead-generation function at Conran – so this role will not require cold client outreach. We would however like candidates to participate in the management of lead generation: including the development of our lead generation strategy and collateral for lead generation.

Location: Hybrid, minimum of 2 days a week from Conran Design Group, 3 Pancras Square, King's Cross, N1C 4AG

Salary: Competitive - dependent on experience


Main responsibilities of the role: 

  • Management of the new business process at Conran: leading pitch teams, owning prospective client relationships, creating content and managing new opportunities as they develop from to RFIs, RFPs and pitch presentations,
  • Implementing and developing our business development strategy – working closely with Conran leadership and the wider BD team (currently two line reports),
  • Overseeing ongoing development and updates to our pitch materials – making sure we have the latest information to hand and communicating updates and materials and processes to wider team,
  • Overseeing our new business/organic growth pipeline tracker – working with the wider team to capture the most up to date information for accurate reporting,
  • Overseeing the CRM system – making sure the team are keeping this up to date and that key data is captured as required,
  • Liasing with Conran Design Group’s New York and Mumbai teams to coordinate global business development strategy,
  • Building strong relationships with the regional and global new business and marcoms community within Havas.


Required experience and attributes: 

  • Demonstrable experience managing the new business processes for a branding agency,
  • Strong understanding of the branding and design project process (ideally also with practical project management and estimating experience),
  • Flexible, highly organised and with good attention to detail,
  • Able to manage multiple projects and tasks with a positive ‘can do’ attitude,
  • Strong communication skills, keeping internal and external stakeholders well informed and up-to-date with the latest news and information,
  • Excellent presentation development skills (including competence in PowerPoint) and confidence developing bespoke content for proposals,
  • Collaborative and supportive, contributing to the success of our agency by sharing knowledge and lending a hand to others when needed,
  • Confident, considered and calm under pressure,
  • Hands-on, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and internal team members (including upward management),
  • Discreet and professional at all times.
