Breathing new life into a brand world.

Strepsils believes that life should never be interrupted by respiratory conditions. With different lead products across global markets, the 70-year-old throat medicine brand wanted to convey its purpose in a consistent, creative and effective way – and sought our help in making it happen.

In partnership with Havas Germany, we needed to bring Strepsils' brand position to life by highlighting its ability to provide empowering relief that consumers can trust and feel.

Our first challenge was to establish the strategic design principles that would underpin the overarching creative approach. Taking the duality of science and humanity as our focus, we anchored our design in the areas of balance, depth and movement.

'Balance’ reflects Strepsils position as both a scientific and human brand; ‘depth’ speaks to the sense of trust that’s such an integral part of its relationship with consumers, and ‘movement’ helps present Strepsils as an active and effective brand, one that helps consumers feel able to move forward with their lives.

All creative assets were designed to reflect the inquisitive, reliable and compassionate attributes of the Strepsils brand. Photography was imbued with a soft, soothing light to evoke the relief offered by the products, and a range of colour gradients were chosen to reflect the soothing flavour cues of each variant. Strepsils' Yin Yang marque, a core element of the brand identity, was used to reflect the balance of scientific expertise and soothing relief.

Our design principles served as the creative springboard for a comprehensive set of guidelines, covering everything from brand behaviours, digital and motion to photography, typography, illustrations and use of colour. These give the Strepsils team the opportunity to apply the brand consistently across the entire product portfolio, and to tell the Strepsils story in a more compelling way than ever before.
